The brief

Make one pharmacy feel easier than the chain down the road.

Local pharmacy is a convenience decision. Patients want to know if you do it, what it costs, when you can see them and whether you are open now. Miles needed all four answered before anyone picks up the phone.

What we built

Seven things on milesclinic.co.uk most healthcare sites don’t have.

Miles Pharmacy: Book from the hero.

01The first screen

Book from the hero.

Choose a service and a preferred date and the site finds the available times; the team confirms the appointment. The bar above says live whether the pharmacy is open right now, and My bookings is one tap away.

Why it sellsRemoving the phone call removes the drop-off.

Miles Pharmacy: An account that sells the next visit.

02My bookings

An account that sells the next visit.

Patients sign in with an email link, no password. The next appointment comes first, with what to bring; rescheduling and cancelling are theirs to do. Beneath it, “Book in minutes. You’re already registered.”: every service with its price, its length and the next free day, a patient’s own words and a See times button.

Why it sellsEvery sign-in shows a registered patient the rest of the pharmacy. The cards are the same for everyone, so nothing is chosen from their health information.

Miles Pharmacy: Four reasons people visit. Four routes.

03The router

Four reasons people visit. Four routes.

Planning a trip, feeling unwell, looking after your health, or not sure. NHS Pharmacy First is explained condition by condition, with the eligible ages drawn as bars.

Why it sellsPatients sort themselves in one glance, and the free NHS service sells the private ones.

Miles Pharmacy: Advice by destination.

04The travel clinic

Advice by destination.

Thailand, India, Pakistan, Vietnam, Costa Rica, Sri Lanka. Each guide sets out the vaccines a trip usually needs, where the malaria risk actually is and what it tends to cost.

Why it sellsTravellers search by country. Each guide is built to be the page that answers them.

Miles Pharmacy: Guides signed by the pharmacist you’ll meet.

05The Health Hub

Guides signed by the pharmacist you’ll meet.

Every guide names who reviewed it, their registration and the date, written for Ewell and Epsom.

Why it sellsNamed clinical review is the trust signal Google and AI platforms look for in healthcare.

Miles Pharmacy: The pharmacy, in its own voice.

06The video library

The pharmacy, in its own voice.

Short answers on camera to the questions travellers ask, from malaria tablets for Kenya to yellow fever timing.

Why it sellsVideo answers what a page can’t, and almost no independent pharmacy makes it.

Miles Pharmacy: Directions as a feature, not a footer.

07The visit

Directions as a feature, not a footer.

A map, routes by car and train, opening hours and what to know before you set off.

Why it sellsLocal searches end in a visit. The page plans it.

Under the hood

The website is what patients see. Behind it, the pharmacy runs on it.

A bespoke theme with its own booking journey, patient portal, search and clinical tools, written for Miles and running on Booked, our own booking platform. Every item below is in the site’s code.

Booking, end to end

A patient books the right service at the right time without picking up the phone.

  • Booking from the first screen, with a calendar that greys out closed and fully booked days
  • The next free appointment shown on the card, and the booking opened on that day
  • Routing questions before booking, decided on the server, so each patient lands on the right service
  • Family and group bookings that find consecutive slots for everyone at once
Show 5 more
  • A searchable, grouped picker for all 28 services instead of a long drop-down
  • Times always in the pharmacy’s clock, so a traveller abroad sees the right hour
  • Add to calendar for Google, Outlook and phones, fixed to London time
  • Links from adverts and pages land straight on the right service
  • A failed booking or a missing service is reported to the site, not lost

My bookings

Patients manage their own appointments, and every visit shows them what else the pharmacy does.

  • Password-free sign-in by email link that never reveals whether an address is on file
  • The next appointment first, in plain words (“Tomorrow, 9:40am”), with what to bring and the way to the door
  • Reschedule as two deliberate steps, old and new time side by side; cancel in one place
  • Before a vaccination, a patient who was nervous too, in their own words, and the latest guide for the service
Show 4 more
  • After a visit: aftercare, a review request to everyone, and the way to book again
  • Service cards with the price, the length and the next free day, live from the booking system
  • The same cards for every patient, never chosen from what they booked, because that is health information
  • The pharmacy can switch cancelling or rescheduling off, and the page follows

Clinical tools that sell responsibly

Patients get a real answer on the page, and every answer ends at a booking or the right NHS route.

  • Yellow fever route and certificate-date checkers, a malaria tablet calculator and course planners
  • Risk checkers for rabies, Japanese and tick-borne encephalitis; booster checkers; a pilgrim’s certificate planner
  • A Pharmacy First finder: type it in your own words, see if Miles treats it; never a diagnosis, nothing typed leaves the phone
  • Destination guides with a trip selector that marks each vaccine likely, worth discussing, or not needed
Show 2 more
  • No tool ever says “you’re in the clear”; the caveat travels with every answer
  • Free and NHS routes named first where they exist, and the one urgent answer sends people to 111

Search that writes the content plan

What patients type becomes the next page, without handing their words to Google.

  • Site search with suggestions as you type, from the same matcher as the results page
  • Every finished search counted on the site, never sent to Google, staff excluded
  • 157 Health Hub guides and over 180 pages naming the pharmacist who reviewed them
  • Seven team profiles, so patients know who they will see
Show 1 more
  • A video library that loads nothing from YouTube until the patient presses play

Getting there

A local search ends in a visit, so the site plans it.

  • A self-hosted map in the site’s own colours, with no Google Maps tracking
  • Open or closed right now, worked out from today’s hours
  • Routes filtered by how you arrive, and a QR code that sends the page to your phone
  • On 38 pages, wherever a patient is deciding to come in

06 · 5 features

Privacy and reliability

Built the way a health business should be.

  • A custom cookie consent plugin: nothing tracked until the patient agrees
  • Leads counted in analytics only with consent, and as a channel word, never the person
  • Services another pharmacy provides go there as a request, so nobody is told to ring round
  • Requests carry how long the page was open, so automated spam can be caught without a puzzle for the patient
Show 1 more
  • Guides and tools still read in full with scripts blocked: a blocked script loses a convenience, never an answer

The booking platform

The booking system behind it is ours too.

Booked is our own booking platform for WordPress. It runs the diary, the questions, the payments and the follow-ups on Miles, and it’s sold to pharmacies, clinics and studios across the UK.

See Booked at trybooked.co
The Booked booking form: pick a time
  • Triage before the form

Routes each person to the right service, or stops them with your message. Answers are receipt-signed so they can’t be altered before booking.

  • Eligibility inside the booking

Per-service questions that flag or block, and required uploads such as a passport, kept against the person.

  • Paid when they book

A deposit or the full price, Apple Pay and Google Pay, cards on file for the balance or a no-show, refunds in one click.

  • Groups, courses and bundles

Families booked together, courses of visits, same-visit bundles and prepaid passes.

  • Follow-ups that think

Email and SMS sequences that check at the moment of sending whether someone has already rebooked.

  • Unfinished bookings

The full trail of every step reached and every answer given. Chase them, or book them in with one click.

  • Live view and funnel

Who is booking right now, and whether people give up on availability, the form or the price.

  • Video consultations

In the browser, nothing to install, with AI-written notes for the clinician to check.

  • Waiting list

A freed slot is held for the person offered it, and claimed by secure link.

  • Customer portal

Passwordless sign-in, with appointments, documents, cancel and reschedule each a switch. It powers Miles’s My bookings.

  • Secure documents

Encrypted at rest, never in the media library, every view logged.

  • Calendar sync and tracking

Google and Outlook calendars kept in step, and one Purchase per booking sent to Google Ads, Meta and GA4.

On the site

The trust a patient checks before they buy, in plain sight.

  • NaTHNaC registered yellow fever centre
  • GPhC registered premises
  • NHS Pharmacy First
  • Consent-first analytics
